Sywell Aviation Museum re-opens for 2008
6th March 2008
Our award winning museum opens for 2008 on Easter Saturday the 22nd
March 2008 - we will be supported by our friends from the Troops,
Trucks and Stores Military Vehicle Group who will bring along a
fascinating collection of WW2 jeeps, trucks and halftracks in support
of our opening - we also hope to have some aerial visitors if the
weather holds!
New for this year are fully revamped displays including a temporary
exhibition on the Home Guard in Northamptonshire, with the assistance
of the Pitsford Home Guard Re-enactment Society.
Also on show for the first time will be a newly acquired barrel from
a 40mm Bofors anti-aircraft gun recovered from a Sywell hedge and a
recently discovered pre-WW2 range shelter which has been restored by
Museum members over the winter.
Also both the Museum's DH Chipmunk
and DH Vampire cockpits will be on
show for kids to explore!
The Museum remains open from 10.30-16.30 weekends and bank holidays
until the end of September. Group visits can be arranged outside
those hours by prior arrangement - for contact details, see here.
We are always on the look out for new artefacts, books, models and
memorabilia - especially relating to Sywell/Northamptonshire. If you
can help - please get in touch!
