Welcome to Brooklands Flying Club

BROOKLANDS Flying Club provides pilot training to the highest standards as a Civil Aviation Authority Registered Training Facility. Located on the historic Sywell Aerodrome, itself in the pretty rolling countryside midway between Northampton and Wellingborough, the brand new clubhouse overlooks the airfield and all its activity.

Inside are attractive spacious classrooms, lecture rooms, and radio booths fitted out with every up to date facility required to train you for your pilots licence. Next door is the Pilots Mess, the themed airfield cafe for pilots, passengers and those accompanying their friends and family taking trial flights.

Outside to the front lies our own grass airfield, licensed by the CAA for training and to the rear the hangar for our aircraft.

A great sport for some...
a great career path for others

We are here to train you for a Private Pilots Licence and if you already have your licence we offer the Night Qualification, IMC rating and aircraft for you to hire.

FLYING INSTRUCTORS REQUIRED - must be available at weekends to teach JAR PPL and NPPL, good rates of pay. Please call us for further details.

Upcoming events:
14th June - Navigation tutorial
27th June - Le Touquet fly-out
28th June - Roof Terrace BBQ (new date)

WITH over 90 full flying members we enjoyed a busy year in 2007. The wonderful rate of climb of our AT-3s - 800 feet per minute is easily achieved - is a boon to training where we are often climbing and descending when flying circuits to practice landings and forced landings or in upper air work recovering from stalls. Their light weight and high power to weight ratio means that at times they have to be handled quite sensitively and our students are learning how to control them with small changes of fingertip pressure rather than the heavier movements required by Cessnas and Pipers. Another difference is that they accelerate very quickly on take-off and we keep power until we have rounded out on landing. Our new C172, G-ZACE, is proving very popular also.
